ACBOGCC AWARDS

Each year, in a special meeting in August, ACBOGCC presents awards to deserving individuals and organizations who have promoted the cause of blind and visually impaired people in the Greater Cincinnati area. Letters of nomination for the awards are submitted by ACBOGCC members to, and judged by, the Awards Committee.

Members submitting nomination letters must remember that the Awards Committee starts its selection on June 15. Therefore, such nominations should be submitted on or before June 10.

Nominations for awards may be emailed as an attachment to the Awards Committee. Send the email to

If nominating letters are sent in by U.S. mail, the envelop must be mark with

The 4 awards are as follows:

  1. The Sue Wesley Award, established in 2011, that award which renamed the Margaret Yancy Award: presented to a person who is sighted for giving tirelessly of himself or herself to enhance the quality and equality of life for individuals who are blind or visually impaired in the Greater Cincinnati area.
  2. The Bob Kraus Award: presented to a person who is blind or visually impaired for giving tirelessly of himself or herself to enhance the quality and equality of life for individuals who are blind or visually impaired in the Greater Cincinnati area.
  3. The Ken Marrs Award: presented to a group, company, or organization that has made outstanding progress in its programs and services; thus enhancing the quality and equality of life for individuals who are blind or visually impaired in the Greater Cincinnati area.
  4. The Lifetime Award: presented to an ACBOGCC member who has shown loyalty and commitment to the goals and objectives of ACBOGCC or may have rendered services to ACBOGCC and its members above and beyond the call of duty.
